Andrew de Burgh was born to an English father and Indian mother in Shrewsbury, a small town in the county of Shropshire, England. In addition to the UK, Andrew grew up in several countries including France, Spain, the Netherlands, U.A.E, India and the United States. He became interested in cinema, literature and video games at an early age, starting with "The Pink Panther: Passport to Peril" video game. Early film favorites include "Home Alone", "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace", "Toy Story" and "Small Soldiers."As a teenager, Andrew was intrigued by thrillers, as well as Korean and Japanese Cinema, such as Adrian Lyne's "Fatal Attraction", Christopher Nolan's "The Prestige", Akira Kurosawa's "Rashomon", Jee-won Kim's "I Saw the Devil" and Park Chan-wook's "Oldboy."He soon moved into writing and directing, emulating, and influenced by the style of his favorite writer/director Christopher Nolan. "Nolan leaves a lot of things open-ended, which I find impressive," says de Burgh. Another inspiration of his, Park Chan-wook, "is brilliant in the way he blurs the line between hero and villain where nothing is clear cut and people are neither good nor bad." Another influence is "Drive" director Nicolas Winding Refn, who "combines mainstream storytelling with artistic integrity."In 2015, Andrew directed his debut short film, the psychological thriller "Just One Drink", which he also wrote, produced and starred in opposite "Hostel" star Barbara Nedeljakova. The film earned praise from critics, garnering a rare 100% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Staci Layne Wilson of Dread Central called him a "promising young director" and Felix Vasquez Jr. of Cinema Crazed stated that "he has potential to create a cinematic masterpiece." He hopes to go into production with "Just One Drink" as a feature film in 2017.He graduated from Pepperdine University in 2012 with a double major in Theater and Advertising.Fans of the Emmy nominated teen drama series "Youthful Daze" will recognize Andrew from his role as series regular Sean Mercer.Andrew is a big fan of soccer, actor Christian Bale, and "The Lord of the Rings" films.
