David Newman

David Newman was born in Illinois and raised on the south side of Chicago. Growing up in projects as a child was a tough act to follow. He could only play in front of the house and be in before sun down. His friends would often tease him and call him early bird. This was the only way his mother could keep him from gang recruitment or drugs or even being killed. David and his family relocated to the southwest suburbs of Illinois where he found inspiration in acting while studying Computer Science at North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. He was asked by a friend, who was studying theatre at the time, to audition for a stage play called "The Mojo" by Alice Childress. His friend thought David fit one of the characters in the show. He was cast as the lead without any prior acting experience or theatre background. This was the catalyst that gave him the desire to act.
