Jose Duval

Born Jose Verschaffel,Jose Duval was born on December 22, 1941 in Belgium. Raised in a middle-class family, Duval was a rebellious youth who ran away from home a few times. Following mandatory service in the military, Jose moved to Cannes in the south of France. Duval first met his wife Daniele in 1961; the couple got married on December 21, 1963. Jose and Daniele ran a bar in Belgium for about two years before it eventually went bankrupt. The couple subsequently moved to the Caribbean island of St. Barths -- Jose worked at the hotel Eden Rock in St. Barths -- in 1972 before moving to both St. Maarten and Haiti prior to finally settling down in New York in 1975.Jose and Daniele became involved in the New York party and swinging scene. Duval made the acquaintance of noted 1970's adult film icon Marc Stevens, who encouraged Duval to act in X-rated movies. Jose acted in his first explicit hardcore film with Mai Lin and won a Critics' Adult Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Taboo American Style 1: The Ruthless Beginning (1985). Duval went on to win additional awards for his performances in The Pillowman (1988) and Oh What a Night (1991), respectively.Jose decided to leave the adult film industry in 1994 and went on to work for the company Time Warner as a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor. (A high school dropout, Duval had to get a GED after he was hired by Time Warner.) The father of three children (he has two sons and a daughter), Jose also has a granddaughter and a great granddaughter. Duval lives in New York with his wife Daniele. Show less «
