Michael Franks

Originally from New York City, Michael is a Los Angeles based director of photography & has enjoyed an extensive career in television and features. Soon after completing NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Michael started his career at NBC in NY. He went on to work on numerous shows, & after completing 2 seasons of Saturday Night Live, he left NBC to start his freelance career. Shortly after shooting Kevin Kline's production of Hamlet for television, Michael relocated to Los Angeles. In the years since, he has had the pleasure of working on a variety of projects for Showtime, Amazon, Fox, and others. He has won 2 Emmy Awards for lighting ESPN's Summer and Winter X Games, and amongst other credits has served as both director and cinematographer for Showtime's The Green Room with Paul Provenza. Michael lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Audrey, and with whom he has co-directed and co-produced 3 children. Show less «
