Nuno Gil is a Portuguese actor, performer and theatre director currently living in Lisbon, Portugal. He as study performing arts and dance throughout Europe, USA and Japan, and spent 10 years of his life in his theatre and movie research in capitals such as Madrid, Paris, Rome, Tokyo, New York and Rio de Janeiro. His debut in the movies was in 2014 when he played Rui, in "Two Drifters" directed by acclaimed and awarded director João Pedro Rodrigues, winning the "Special Mention Cinema de Recherche" at the International Cannes Film Festival in 2015.He began his studies in 1999 at the Lisbon National Theatre Conservatoire where he finished his graduation. He also attended the School of Music and Performing Arts of Oporto (Esmae, 2001), Estudis the Teatre in Barcelona and the Royal School of Dramatic Art in Madrid (Resad), where he completed his degree in Physical Theatre, 2003. In 2002 he was granted a fellowship of the Orient Foundation and Kyoto Arts Centre (KAC) to study Butoh Dance and Noh Theater in Kyoto, Japan. In the same year he integrated the Shizuku Butoh Dance Company in Tokyo, under the direction of Japanese dancer and choreographer Dakei. Along with these activities, he attended the Butoh dance studios of Kazuo Ohno and Akiko Fujimoto.In 2004 he won the Young Artists Award in Theatre, sponsored by the National Culture Centre of Portugal (CNC), to conduct an investigation on the Suzuki method acting training at SCOT (Suzuki Company of Toga), under the guidance of its creator and artistic director Tadashi Suzuki. In 2008 he was awarded the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Scholarship to study and monitor the artwork of Anne Bogart's Siti Company, in order to investigate and develop the techniques View Points and the Suzuki Method. He won also at the same year a scholarship by GDA (Portuguese Actor's Guild) to study with Susan Batson in her Black Nexxus Studio in NYC.As a theatre director, Nuno highlights the following pieces: Parece una Tonteria, Teatro Valle Inclan, Madrid (2003). After the Rehearsal presented, The Tank, New York (2009). Tragédia Brasileira, (Brazilian Tragedy), Teatro Nelson Rodrigues, Rio de Janeiro 2010. Matei Por Amor (I have Killed for Love), Teatro Municipal São Luís, Lisboa (2016).In his country, Nuno as worked and collaborated with many different theatre ensembles and companies such as Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II, Teatro da Cornucópia, Teatro Aberto, Teatro Municipal São Luiz, Teatro Maria Matos, Teatro Praga, Teatro Taborda, Teatro Nacional São João, Seiva Trupe Teatro.In film, Nuno as worked in Portugal and in Brazil, with directors such as João Pedro Rodrigues, in Odete (2004), Paulo Rebelo in Efeitos Secundários (2006), Joaquim Leitão in 20,13 (2007), Caetano Gotardo in Desassossego (2009), Aline Portugal in Frineia (2012), Antonio da Silva in Dancers, Ernesto Solis in Longe Demais Não É Suficiente (2015).
