Sándor Csoóri

Csoori was born of a family of peasants. He studied to become a journalist but in the early sixties he started working as a sociographer. Like Bela Bartok he wanted to preserve the rich oral literary traditions of the Hungarian countryside. As a writer he mostly wrote poetry. His writings are profoundly influenced by his passion to record what else might disappear forever. This probably also explains his interest in cinema, writing scripts. Show less «
