Canadian actor/writer/director Shelley Thompson is best known in Canada for her work as Barb Lahey in Trailer Park Boys but favourites have included Rita King in 63 eps of Mike and Angelo, and as the Stepmum in Labyrinth. Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England. Work in the UK included television, film, productions in London's West End,(Me and My Girl, Rick's Bar, Casablanca) the Royal National Theatre( After the Fall) and in Regional Theatres throughout the country. Since returning to Nova Scotia, Canada in 1997 she's worked across the country: the Neptune, the Shaw Festival, Neccessary Angel, the Globe, Prairie Theatre Exchange, Festival Antigonish and more. Awards: Work in film, short film, television and theatre, has garnered awards including ACTRA award winner for Two Penny Road-Kill 2013, or WAKE, (Best Supporting Actress, LA's Love Unlimited Festival, 2011 and for Trailer Park Boys, Gemini, 2008, (Best Ensemble). Merritt Award (Best ACtress in a leading role) for Glorious. Writing includes plays A Kind of Faith (2004) Leaving Wonderland (2013), Belinda the Bicycle Witch 2008, Lost and Found 2009, ...And How Are We Today (co-written with poet Anne Simpson) Recently on stage: A Good Death, Be My Baby, Crimal Genius. Her poetry has been included in the literary journal Toward the Light, Papirmasse, and the CBC website. Short story Bowls of Cheer was included in a Nimbus Christmas Anthology and broadcast with December 1945 on CBC National Christmas 2010. Presently shifting strongly to writing directing for film - She has just finished her first narrative short: DAWG and is working on: A feature length version of (stage play) Leaving Wonderland, a feature length treatment of DAWG, a new short called Prison Music: A Fable.
