Zimbo the Dog

Zimbo the Dog was an average sized, male German Shepherd that was known for the silent classic, The Man Who Laughs (1928). He played Homo, the dog of Gwenplaine, the man character. Zimbo is thought of as the first seeing eye dog in movies as his character protected and guided Dea who was Gwenplaine's blind love interest. He could snarl and bark on command and had a heroic role in this movie. Little more is known about him but he certainly left his mark in cinematic history. Show less «
