Firenze is a centaur who first appears in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. He has blond hair, blue eyes, and a palomino body. Centaurs are highly intelligent creatures with the head and torso of a human and the body of a horse. Although they have the intelligence of a human, centaurs choose to be classified as Beasts by the Ministry of Magic and prefer not to follow Ministry laws. Centaurs read the signs in the stars and planets and do not take sides in the events they foresee. Sorcerer's Stone- In the Forbidden Forest, Firenze rescues Harry from Professor Quirrell/Lord Voldemort. He also lets Harry know that Voldemort is planning on stealing the Sorcerer's Stone. Firenze is chastised by his herd because he let Harry ride on his back. Order of the Phoenix- Firenze agrees to help Professor Dumbledore by stepping in as the new Divination teacher during year 5. The other centaurs consider this a traitorous act and attack him. Hagrid intervenes and stops the herd from killing Firenze but the herd bans Firenze from returning. Firenze continues as joint Divination teacher in the following years. Deathly Hallows- Firenze is severely injured during the final battle of Hogwarts. Show less «
