Marty does the reverse of the second coach, Sasha: he first appears decent and then ends up a huge disappointment to his girls. After a thinly veiled threat from Lauren's father, encouraged by a temper tantrum from Lauren, Marty abandons the girls at the Rock in the first episode and moves instead to an elite club in Denver. While his move is reluctant, and he proves to be a good and unbiased coach, Kaylie later finds out that his moving was really due to an act of indiscretion months before which Lauren's father threatened to reveal, an act that turns out to be one of the biggest betrayals Kaylie's ever experienced.
