Nate Westen (Seth Peterson) is Michal's younger brother. We first meet Nate in Season 1 Episode Episode 4. We learn through out that Nate bore the brunt of his dad's beatings after Michael left for the military. We get a peek at their sibling rivalry when Nate feels that he deserves the Charger more than Michael. Nate also had a knack for getting into trouble. However, he didn't have the skills to get himself out of it without Michael's help.After being sent away a few times for safety reasons with Maddy, Nate decided to move to Las Vegas. He also met Ruth (played by Seth Peterson's real wife, Kylee Cochran) a blackjack dealer he marries after only knowing her for a month. Toward the end of season 4, we learn that Nate is going to be a dad. He doesn't tell Michael, right away and Michael finds out from Madeline that he is going to be an uncle.
