Pema is very kind and patient and treats Korra like another daughter. She offers Korra advice about Mako when her daughters' give less than helpful ideas. Pema admitted that Tenzin was in love with someone else, but she knew that the other woman was not right for him and so confessed her love and they have lived happily ever after since.
