Tobias is a troubled soul. When he was young his mother ran off with another man which sent his father off the deep end. Tobia's father, Charles became a religious maniac. He routinely abused physically and verbally even going so far as to brand a cross on the boy's forehead. Eventually Tobias fell into drug use.The team comes across Tobias while investigating a bizarre series of murders. At first there appears to be at least two if not three unsubs involved. One unsub seems submissive and afraid he calls police to warn them that Raphael is going to kill people for having too many posessions, he is then rushed off the phone and different stronger voice states they they are sinners. The killers slaughter a young couple and escape within mere minutes.As the profile unfolds it contradicts itself, the submissive voice doesn't try to stop Raphael by screaming and awakening the residents and yet he seems unwilling to kill. As the team investigates another murder occurs and a video recorded during the murder hits the internet and explodes virally.The team continues their pursuit as another video hits the web, this depicts the survivor of a second attack, she has been chained and the submissive voice reads a biblical passage about adultery and jezebel. As the team watches in horror dogs are unleashed on the woman and tear her apart.A short time later Reid and JJ are dispatched to interview Henkel because he is listed on a report of a prowler at the home of the first couple to die. Henkel is cagey and evasive. He lives far out of cell range so Reid and JJ cannot be contacted when the team learns that a local officer recognizes the dogs in the video belong to Henkel. Not realizing the strange young man who is worried about angering his father is in fact their unsub. Reid spots Henkel ans his sophisticated computer set up from an outside window. Henkel panics and runs to his barn.Reid and JJ pursue. Unable to call in backup Reid insists that the two of them can trap Henkel in the barn. JJ is uneasy about the idea bur Reid hurries around the barn before JJ can object. JJ thinks she hears a sound in the barn and enters thinking it might be Reid.In the meantime Reid spots Henkel racing into the corn field near the barn. He quietly pursues as he hears Henkel arguing with someone. JJ enters the barn and quietly calls Reid's name, she inadvertently spooks the savage dogs from the videos. She fires killing the animals meanwhile Reid has realized that Tobias isn't arguing with anyone.Tobias is suffering from extreme Dissociative Identity Disorder, Raphael is one of his alter personalities. As Reid realizes this Tobias is ordered to shoot Reid.JJ survives the dogs but is horrified at the sight of their victim.The next episode opens with the team descending on Henkel's land and barn. They recover JJ and realize Reid has been taken. Tobias sets up a camera with a feed directly to his system at the house enabling the agents to see and hear everything as it occurs.They realize that Tobias has three personalities, his own, Raphael and a third angry abusive personality. This personality insists that Reid confess his sins and batters his bare foot to elicit a confession. Shortly after Tobias surfaces and injects Reid with Dilauded, referred to as drug store heroin, for his pain.The team realize that Tobias' third abusive personality is that of his father. Six months before Charles Henkel was sick, he demanded that Tobias honor his father and kill him, Tobias was so conflicted by the contradiction between obeying his father and killing that his personality fractured and Charles became one of them so that Tobias didn't actually kill his father.Reid manages to slip two messages to the team, one telling them to look for reports of poaching and the other telling them he is in a cemetery. At one point Raphael kills Reid but Tobias brings him back. Caught in the grip of the narcotics, pain, and fear Reid recalls having his mother comitted and weeps and begs forgivenes for it. Unfortunately 'Raphael' hears this and drags Reid out to the woods. As he is moving to shoot Reid, Reid wrests the gun away from him and fires instead. The revolver only has one bullet but Reid's luck is finally in. He shoots Tobias squarely in the chest. As Tobias falls he cries in an almost relieved voice, 'you shot him!'.Reid crawls up to Tobia's side as the young man, the real Tobias plaintively asks Reid, 'do you think I'll see my mom?' Tobias dies and seconds later the team arrives. Reid tearfully embraces them and tells Hotchner that he knew he'd come. As the team splits up and returns to their vehicles Reid asks for a moment and steals the last of the drugs from Tobias' body. Show less «
