Story of the teenager Jamie, who lives with his mother Dorothea Fields, who fears that her age and generation will differ from her son's generation to communicate with him. Dorothea asks the help from Abbie who aspires to become an actress, and Julie, Jimmy's childhood friend and lover, trying to direct her son to realize what it takes to be a man.
