An American Werewolf in London

The two friends, David and Jack, are students at a university in the United States of America. When attacked by a huge wolf, both students carry their bags across Britain in an adventure that seems to be the worst in their lives. David escapes a large dog in his body, but Jack will kill the wolf. David was taken to hospital, wounded and recovered from the bite, but suffers from nightmares from his deformed friend, who warns him that he has become a victim. When David discovers the truth, he begins to think of committing suicide before the moon completes, which may turn him into a deadly wolf and a danger to everyone.

September 23, 2007 It's a failure, less because the odd stylistic mix doesn't take (it does from time to time, and to striking effect) than because Landis hasn't bothered to put his story into any kind of satisfying shape.

October 30, 2009 Not just gory but actually frightening, not just funny but clever, 'American Werewolf...' has its flaws, but these are outweighed by the film's many, mighty strengths.

October 23, 2004 Seems curiously unfinished, as if director John Landis spent all his energy on spectacular set pieces and then didn't want to bother with things like transitions, character development, or an ending.
