After joining the Second Wave Women's drama group and attending stage school she began acting roles but claims that her dyslexia made it difficult to sight-read scripts. She thus decided to become Britain's first black stand-up comedienne,launching in 1994 her show 'Funny Black Women on the Edge' which played successfully at the Edinburgh Fringe and at the Theatre Royal,Stratford East. Her self-penned show 'The Brothers' has been a success in three media,radio,television and stage and,as of 2012,is due to appear in sitcom 'The Ryan Sisters'. In addition to her work as a performer she formed the Straight To Audience production company to encourage youngsters to take up stand up comedy. Show less «
