Florence Hartigan is an American-born, New Zealand-raised, LA-based actress and musician. Her latest film project is the leading role in Phoenix Forgotten, produced by Ridley Scott (Alien), Wes Ball (Maze Runner) and Mark Canton (The Martian). The film is based on the shocking, true events of March 13th, 1997, when several mysterious lights appeared over Phoenix, Arizona. This unprecedented and inexplicable phenomenon became known as "The Phoenix Lights," and remains the most famous and widely viewed UFO sighting in history. The film tells the story of three teens who went into the desert shortly after the incident, hoping to document the strange events occurring in their town and were never seen again. Now, on the 20th anniversary of their disappearance, unseen footage has finally been discovered, chronicling the final hours of their fateful expedition. The film opens nationwide on April 21, 2017.Hartigan's other film credits include Entrance (IFC/LA Film Festival), The Witch of Portabello (based on Paulo Cohello's novel), and the upcoming animated feature, Malevolent starring William Shatner and Morena Baccarin set for release in summer 2017.Hartigan was born in Ithaca New York, and raised in Ireland and New Zealand. At a young age, she started working as an actor, playing a guest star role in "Shortland Street," New Zealand's leading and longest running TV drama. Hartigan went on to play a main role in Vanessa Alexander's feature film Magik and Rose, as well as several TV shows and pilots and award-winning short films, before taking a break from acting to study film and theater at the University of Otago, Dunedin and the University of California, Berkeley. Post- college, she studied with leading New Zealand Meisner teacher Michael Saccente, before moving to Los Angeles to further her acting career.She studied improvising and writing at the Upright Citizen's Brigade and The Groundlings, and acted in Comedy Central Studios' web project "Bro Dependent." Hartigan can also be seen in several projects produced by Funny or Die, and has written and acted in several of her own projects which FoD featured on their front page. She performs regularly at UCB, Nerdist, iO West and other venues with her musical improv group, Kaboombox.When not acting or writing, Hartigan is a musician, and plays regularly at venues around Los Angeles, and in NY, as well as writing music for various TV and film projects.
