Jorie Remus was a promising comedienne in the 1950s performing in clubs in San Francisco such as; The Purple Onion and The Hungry i. She also performed in New York clubs, as well as off-Broadway in several plays. Her career was badly damaged by personal problems, compounded by an erroneous report that she had died. Ultimately she settled in Hawaii and has made appearances on Hawaii Five-O and Magnum P.I. the latter show probably representing her final acting work in 1982.Remus was an influence on Phyllis Diller, who sought out Remus's acting coach, who was instrumental in developing Diller's early work.In the early 1990s James Gavin profiled Remus, among others in Intimate nights: the golden age of New York cabarets, attributing the false report of Remus's death to famed columnist Dorothy Kilgallen. He does not however discuss if she was still living at the time of his writing. Show less «
