Raymond is from Franklin, Tennessee. Raymond grew up taking martial arts, gymnastics, swimming, playing football, and soccer. Raymond was a member of the 4H club and an Eagle Scout by age 15.Raymond received a B.A. in Philosophy from The University of the South at Sewanee. He was inducted into the National Philosophy Society and wrote his thesis on Kierkegaard's Indirect Communication. He was also a member and president of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Iota Nu Zeta.Raymond earned an MFA in Acting from the Professional Conservatory at Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University.
