Hannah, aspiring writer; Marnie, Jessa and Shoshanna are four girls in their twenties experience the world. Hannah is told by her parents that they won't support her after her graduation. In this fourth season, Hannah prepares to move to Iowa where her graduate classmates live to an apartment she can afford.
